Poker Bluffs

Bluffing is one of the hardest but most fundamental part of poker. A bluff is a bet or a raise made with a hand that has no chance of winning. The purpose of a bluff is to win a pot when your hand is not strong enough to do so on its own. You are essentially representing a big hand when in reality you have nothing. Without a doubt, if you do not bluff in poker, there is no way you can be a successful poker player. That being said, bluffing is no small task, as it requires good poker sense, timing and guts to pull it off. It can be frightening, scary and embarrassing when you are caught, but equally exciting and rewarding when you get away with it. Bluffing is a very valuable weapon to have in your poker arsenal but you should make sure you use it correctly and don’t overuse it.

Following are some considerations when deciding whether to bluff or not:

  1. Type of opponent: It is not wise to bluff weak opponents who simply call any wager.
  2. Number of opponents: A bluff will be more likely to work when used against a single player not against the multiple ones.
  3. Your table image: If you have developed a table image of being a loose player rather than a tight on, a bluff is much less likely to be successful.
  4. Your "reading" skills: If you are able to determine what other players most likely hold through 'reading' the players, you can identify great times to bluff.
  5. The size of the pot: Those playing against you are more likely to call when the pot is large because their pot odds rate better.
  6. Your position: A late position provides you with a lot more information about other player's hands. This makes late positions much better for bluffing than early positions.

On PlayMobilepoker.Net we will speak about bluffing, online bluffing, how to read bluffs at poker games and many interesting things. Our purpose here is to be able to win more with bluffs than with strong poker hands. There are two types of poker bluffs a Pure Bluff and a Semi-Bluff.
